A lot of people think that there is no such thing as a bad massage.  I can tell you from experience, this is simply not true!  Most people know that massage can be a helpful, healing practice.  Not many people know that massage can be harmful, or even fatal, if applied improperly.  I teach the basics of massage — what to do, how to do it safely, what not to do, and when not to do it.  I can instruct you and your partner at my studio or in your home: one of you will do the work, and one will receive the work.  You can switch so you can both learn the ropes.

This is perfect for couples wanting to know how to massage more effectively and more proficiently.  This could be for sensual, therapeutic, or general purposes.  Many couples enjoy massage from and with each other but have no endurance for it due to poor body mechanics.  Many people have chronic physical issues that would benefit from very regular, though short and simple massage techniques, but don't have the money to see a professional three times a week for 15 minutes.  Bring your partner, and I'll show you how to do some of what I do.

Consultation

I offer consultation in the following arenas:
  • Proper body mechanics analysis for other massage therapists
    • Sometimes it's easy to see when someone else is doing it wrong, but hard to tell when you are.
  • Proper ergonomics analysis for your work space
    • If you sit in a chair with poor support all day, using a mouse, looking down at your screen, you will likely have chronic shoulder and neck pain.
  • Exercise, stretching, and proper care recommendations for managing physical issues
    • Certain muscular and soft-tissue issues can be very confusing, and very long-lasting.  Often, these can be managed or completely alleviated by regularly doing a few minutes of maintenance work.  As much as I'd like get paid $70/week to sort it out for you, I'd rather you do what is necessary to avoid the pain and problems in the first place.  Let me help you figure out how.
